## Article

Association events are often one of the clearest moments of member value. A member meets peers, hears something useful, earns CPD or remembers why they belong. Then, rather too often, the ticketing platform keeps the evidence of that moment to itself.

The 2026 Membership Marketing Benchmarking Report found that 37% of participating associations use an event platform specifically for member engagement. It also notes that associations reporting membership and renewal growth are more likely to report event-platform engagement. This is correlation, not a promise that an event system will improve renewal by itself. It is still a useful reminder that an event is part of the relationship, rather than an isolated transaction.

The data is from US association professionals. The operational point is relevant here: if a registration, attendance record and follow-up list need manual reconciliation, the team has lost useful context by the time they are ready to act on it.

## Before the event, let the system know the member

Member pricing should not require staff to cross-check a spreadsheet. Corporate seats should not need to be allocated in a side conversation. A waitlist should not become a second attendee list that somebody remembers to update when a ticket is cancelled.

[Agend Events](/events) uses membership data to resolve the applicable price at registration. It supports ticket types, time-based pricing, waitlists and check-in, with event revenue mapped to Xero. That saves operational time, certainly, but it also avoids the member-facing problem of asking a financial member to prove their status at the checkout.

## During and after, keep the attendance story

Attendance is useful engagement information when it returns to the member record. With Agend, registrations and check-ins can become activity on the [CRM](/crm) profile. The membership team can then see a person's event history beside payments, learning and other interactions, rather than asking the events team for an export.

The next action can be more relevant as a result:

- attendees can receive the follow-up resource or a related course;
- no-shows can be offered another session without being treated as disengaged by default;
- staff can see which topics and formats are actually being used;
- a completed event can contribute to a broader professional development story.

For associations that want the conversation to continue, [Loop](/loop) can create a private channel for an event's registrants. It is a place for documents, questions and practical follow-up, not an attempt to force everyone into another social network.

## Think of the event as a hand-off

There are three hand-offs worth testing: registration to member record, attendance to follow-up, and follow-up to the next meaningful service. If one is manual, it is usually where the member becomes the integration layer or the staff team spends Monday morning cleaning data.
